This is not a heavy book. I want to say that at the start, because Books Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen are where the hammer falls — and when a hammer of that scale and that honesty falls, the reader needs to know where the aftermath lands.
Book 14 — The Summit of the Ancients is the aftermath. But it is not rest. It is the specific, irreversible moment when transformation stops being something that is happening to the warriors — something they are in the process of — and becomes something that has happened. Something they are now carrying as themselves, fully, without qualification.
This is, I have found, one of the most disorienting experiences a person can have. The absence of the becoming. The arrival at what the becoming was building toward.
What I Finished This Year
There is something no one tells you about finishing. Not the finishing of small things — tasks completed, ordinary satisfactions of a productive day. The finishing of something enormous. Something that required you to become a different person in the process of building it.
I finished something this year. I will not say what. What matters is not the thing but the feeling — the specific, unexpected weight of standing on the other side of something enormous and discovering that the other side looks nothing like the imagined version. That there is no clean silence. No resolution that settles everything neatly. That the thing you finished has, in being finished, opened a door you did not know was there.
The warriors experience this in Book 14. They arrive at the Summit of the Ancients — a place they have not visited in this form, in this state of completion — and what they find there is not reward. It is record. A record of everything they were, in every era, in every form, in every version of this long journey. And standing inside that record, they understand — fully, perhaps for the first time — what the becoming was always building toward.
The Design Made Visible
Book 14 is the volume where the centuries-long design of the Infinium finally speaks its last secret aloud. Not as prophecy. As architecture. As the revelation that what appeared across the saga as convergence was never accidental — it was constructed, precisely, patiently, across millennia, by beings who understood what the final confrontation would require before any of the warriors were born.
This revelation does not make the warriors smaller. It makes them larger. Because to understand that you were designed for something is not to lose your agency within it — it is to finally understand the full weight of the choice you have been making, again and again, every time you chose to continue.
They were built for this. They chose it anyway. Those two truths together are the full measure of who they are.
A Note on What Follows
Book 14 stands alone between the cataclysm of Books 12 and 13 and the final confrontation of Books 15 and 16 and 17. It is the breath taken before the last movement begins. But calling it a breath understates it. It is the summation. The full accounting. The moment the story looks at itself and sees, without flinching, everything it has been.
I am grateful to have written it. And I am grateful that you have walked this far to receive it.

The summit was not the destination. The summit was the place where you could finally see that the journey had always known exactly where it was going.
